Novel composites  for personal protective equipment  against  multiple  hazards

AIM OF THE PROPOSED WORK

Abstract:

Workers in  the oil and gas sectors are exposed to a number of hazardous environments against which they require protection :flames, heat and accidental explosions, static electrical charges,   impact from machinery parts or falling objects, toxic or injurious gases or chemicals,  thermal stress ( heat and/or cold), etc.  

There are two main general goals for the project (1) the development of PPE incorporating multiple protective properties designated for workers in the oil and gas industry (2) ensure the physiological comfort of the wear. 

EXPECTED RESULTS OF THE PROPOSED WORK

Identification of the aspects related to multi-risk  protective textiles; Definition of the product specification;  Selection of Materials;  Prototype Design; Development of prototype textile samples; Test and Validation; Re-engineering of the product/process 

EXPERTISE NEEDED

Type of organisation:  SME/industrial partner in the field of designinig and accomplishing of textile or/and PPE

Expertise: to develop and apply the specific functionalizing materials capable of providing multiple protective functions
