According to Technical Research Center of Finland, 30 to 50% of the manufacturing rejections are caused by unwanted/unexpected ESD events, even if the human operators working in microelectronic industry are using ESD garments in order to diminish the risk of discharging when manipulating devices. The studies regarding the essential performances of ESD protective garments (ESTAT Garments should be mentioned) lead to a number of contradictory/antagonistic requirements when defining the “ideal/perfect ESD garments”:
high conductivity/conductance in order to facilitate the dissipation process and for avoiding charge accumulation;
high resistivity/resistance for preventing fast dissipation and for limiting the energy transfer during discharging;
In this context, themain objective of the present proposal is to define a novel technology for ESD garments manufacturing which will allow the development of an experimental model exhibiting superior ESD protection capacity compared with the solutions currently available on the market.
At the time being we are looking for a SME with expertise in textiles.
